Stinkin Cute Designs is turning 3!

Stinkin Cute will be 3 on July 25th. I still can't believe its been 3 years!

It is so amazing to me to see what happens when God blesses something. He has had his hand on it from the beginning and I am so excited to watch Stinkin Cute grow!

It started with a little baby boy names Dawson :)

Right after he was born I was given the sweetest gifts, embroidered burp cloths and a hooded towel. I treasured them. They were my favorite things, and to be honest...lasted way longer than any other burp cloth or hooded towel that I HAD to have because they were SOOOO cute. Right. I had a drooler and I knew what worked and what did not. As life would have it...my heart was moving me in a different direction. One that I NEVER thought I would take. I liked being a working mom, and still do. But my heart is pulling me in different directions. So during this time, I became inspired. I found myself daydreaming of having an embroidery business with the cutest baby items that would allow me to be home more. But a dream it was ... and a dream it stayed. It was always in the back of my mind. And the more time that went on the more regrets I had. I went back to work, we began saving for our first home, bought it and moved in. It wasn't shortly after that I was done dreaming. I was sick of wondering and hoping...I did it. Did my research and I bought my machine. I was so excited and had not a clue how to use it. But practice makes perfect. It was hard and frustrating...but I didn't give up. And I am so glad. I am blessed and amazed at what Stinkin Cute has become.

This last fall was 1 year since quitting my full time job to just stay home and sew. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I would be doing this. Thank You for all your support.

Now for the fun stuff - you've guessed it A GIVE AWAY!

This year the BIG GiveAway is 3 Halloween items :) Embroidered Dress, Legwarmers and Bow. If the winner has just little boys then they will have the choice of 2 Halloween tees!

Its easy just leave a comment and you will be entered in a drawing. The contest ends on July 24th. On July 25th I will announce the winner.

I am truly blessed to be able to do something I am so passionate about. I love making things that are so loved by the moms, and that the kids get excited about too! Thanks for supporting me, and being on this wonderful journey with me.

Happy Birthday Stinkin Cute!

DIY Home Projects - Feature Writer

I am super excited to be able to feature other moms who craft with an amazing purpose and inspire us to do the same! Enjoy - Shea

Hi all! I'm Jill and I blog over at The Shafer Family . My blog is like a journal, as I love to share how we fill our days. From toddler learning projects to crafts to DIY home improvements, I like to try and cover it all! I have a 3 year old daughter (well, 3 and a HALF if you ask her) and a little boy on the way in May.

For the past year or so, I've fallen in love with DIY projects and fortunately, I have a sweet husband who complies with all my ideas! I think it's important to remember that not ALL the DIY projects will work out, but I always walk away with new knowledge and that definitely helps me in future work!

So, my personal rules are:
1. Finish what you start (I have a touch of OCD and this rule comes fairly easily to me! Ha!).
2. Each project HAS to be cheap. My husband is a teacher and I'm mostly a stay-at-home mom, so hitting up thrift stores is a MUST.
3. Have fun! Decorating and DIY-ing is a way to express my creative side, so it should definitely be fun!

Shea has graciously asked me to share a few of my favorite projects, so here they are!

I know that the rage in blogland is doing board and batten treatments and naturally, I had to try it in our home! To cut down costs, we used crown molding and lattice strips (super cheap at Home Depot!) to spruce up our dining room:

And, when our laundry cove (it's so NOT a room of it's own, as it's located in our kitchen) started to bug me with it's clutteredness (not a word; ha!), I revamped it:

Finally, one of my favorite stores to hit up is Re-Store, which is run by Habitat for Humanity. At a recent trip, I picked up this cabinet door and transformed it:

And so, that's it! Stop by my blog, The Shafer Family, for almost daily doses of fun and inspiration!
